Wes Anderson is an American Film maker with an eccentric and unique visual and narrative style. His work includes films such as Moonrise Kingdom, Rushmore, Bottle Rocket, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic, & The Darjeeling Limited. Wes Anderson's aesthetic has greatly influenced the world of fashion, photography & cinema and interior design. Recently, his style has gained popularity on Instagram with creatives as they document real-life buildings, interiors, landscapes, & outfits that look as if they were plucked from a Wes Anderson film. Art may imitate life, but as evidenced by the thousands of people now designating their photos #AccidentalWesAnderson, perhaps the opposite is also true.  For fashion inspiration, visit Pinterest galleries HERE or HERE. The most obvious influence over the clothing that Anderson’s characters wear is a preference for vintage fashion, most notably from between the 1960s and 1980s - a time of playful proportions & eclectic patterns. Models:

Please arrive at Edenvale Windery & the Voorhies Mansion dressed in theme and ready to shoot. Ashland's Dynasty Vintage & the Oracle Room will be featuring additional Wes Anderson inspired fashion items on location for models to incorporate into their look, beginning at 9am. After May 8th, models will be encouraged to visit their shop in Downtown Ashland to help curate their collection (this is optional - wardrobe will be available on location). We'll be giving away a prize at the end to the model who gets most creative and playful with Dynasty Vintage's wardrobe. Models will have their own dedicated changing room. Please try to arrive by 9:30am. Check in, explore the space for inspiring portrait locations, practice with lighting from Focal Point Photography, test out lenses by Tamron, and meet other creatives, and browse wardrobe options before introductions begin at 10:00am. We begin each slam by paring everyone up. Please be prepared to work with many different photographers (and other models) in short micro sessions.

Photographers:

We appreciate it when photographers dress in sync with the vibe and rock the theme, but they aren't required to. Photographers should wear comfortable shoes and arrive with their camera ready to shoot.  Please try to arrive by 9:30am. After checking in, browse Tamron's selection of lenses and Focal Point Photography's selection of lighting available for use on location. We'll be will be giving a prize away at the end to the photographer who gets most creative and engaging with the gear available on location.  Explore the space for inspiring portrait locations, take a few test shots, and chat with fellow creatives. Introductions start at 10am. We begin each slam by pairing everyone up. Please be prepared to work with many different models in quick micro sessions. Videography, off camera flash, and film photography are welcome. Photographers are welcome to bring their own lighting. Photography assistants are required to purchase a general ticket.

This invitation is required to attend. We work hard to curate a balanced & diverse group of creatives. To reserve your spot, please register and purchase your ticket after reading & agreeing to our rules on our website at portraitslam.com/rules.  Your ticket will become non-refundable after June 1st. Only registered participants are allowed to attend our events. Please check in with us in advance to request a special exception. We appreciate word-of-mouth and if you'd like to suggest other models or portrait photographers for us to consider inviting, please let us know.
