Portrait Slam was created for anyone who uses photography as a personal and/or professional means of expression, with a hunger for honing their craft, plugging into a community of artistic collaborators, and playing creatively.
Past participants include working professional models, theater and screen actors, social media influencers, cosplayers, musicians, artists, and photographers & videographers of all backgrounds.
Our first slam was hosted at the historic Elks Lodge in downtown Medford, Oregon in September 2018. Local models and photographers explored every nook and keyhole of the then-vacant property.
We began traveling in 2019. Since then, we've hosted over 80 slams in Oregon, Washington, California, Nevada, Colorado, Texas, Connecticut, & Massachusetts with sponsorship support by Tamron, Nanlite, & Fujifilm provide participants with a unique opportunity to shoot creatively with new gear and give away prizes.
HOW DO SLAMS WORK?
The following videos were created in 2019 for first-time participants:
General tickets are $40 for photographers, $30 for models, and fully refundable until 72 hours before a slam.
