Theme:
Perhaps the most well-known artistic development of the 20th century, Pop Art emerged in reaction to consumerism, mass media, and popular culture. It began in the late 1950's, thrived throughout the 1960's, and continues to influence art and fashion today. Â Pop Art draws upon everyday objects and media like newspapers, comic books, magazines, and other mundane objects to produce vibrant compositions. Iconic works of Pop Art include Roy Lichtenstein's bold comic-style paintings, Jean-Michel Basquiat's cryptic graffiti, Takashi Murakami's "Superflat" anime, Andy Warhol's soup cans, and Marisol Escobar's pop & folk infused wooden sculptures.Â

Photographers:
We appreciate it when photographers dress in sync with the vibe and rock the theme, but they aren't expected to. Photographers should wear comfortable shoes and arrive with their camera ready to shoot. Â Please arrive between 10:00am and 10:45pm. After checking in, explore the space for inspiring portrait locations, check out Robi's camera gear and Tamron's selection of lenses available for borrow, take a few test shots, and chat with fellow creatives. Introductions start at 11am. After intros, we begin each slam by pairing everyone up. Please be prepared to work with many different models in quick sessions. Videography, off camera flash, and film photography are welcome but please check in with us before flying a drone. Photography assistants are required to purchase a general ticket.
