MTV Real World Tacoma Loft - 1122 Market St, Tacoma, WA 98402, USA

Theme: MTV The Real World 1990's - Early Aughts

"MTV chronicles the lives of a group of young people from different walks of life as they move in together and navigate friendships, relationships and belief systems with their roommates"... MTV's The Real World was a ground-breaking reality television that influenced popular culture and fashion from the 1990s through the early aughts.  Look towards that era for retro spring fashion inspiration. American sportswear brands had a huge impact on streetwear fashion, most notably Polo Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Adidas, Kangol, Starter, Champion, and Supreme - as did cultural brands like FUBU, Phat Farm, Baby Phat, Pelle Pelle, Ecko, and Wu Wear. Bold patterns and colors were popular in the early 90's. Camo patterns in the late 90's. Cargo pants & Ugg boots in the early aughts. Denim dungaress made a comeback, often worn with one or both straps unclasped. Sports jerseys, letterman's and snapback hats. In New York, Timberlands and Lugz boots paired perfectly with oversized jeans, puffy jackets, and hoodies. We always appreciate individuality and unique interpretations of our theme. Please remember, our fashion theme is not a costume. For further inspiration, search #UrbanSlam on Instagram or visit this Pinterest gallery HERE and HERE. We celebrate diversity, body positivity, self-expression, style, and creativity. Let us know if you have any questions.

Models:

Please arrive dressed in theme and ready to shoot. D. Haberdashery will be featuring additional 90s/early aughts inspired fashion on location as an option for models to incorporate into their look, beginning at 10am. If you'd like to help D. Haberdashery curate their collection, please feel free to visit Dion & Jahira at 748 Broadway in Tacoma, WA. We'll be giving away a prize at the end to a model who gets creative with their wardrobe. Models will have their own dedicated changing space inside the loft. Jenni Wang Makeup will be offering micro sessions & touch ups during arrivals. Check-in, meet fellow creatives, browse the space for inspiring locations to shoot, & sample lighting by Robis Camera. Please try to arrive by 10:30am. We begin each slam by paring everyone up. Please be prepared to work with many different photographers and models in short micro sessions.

Photographers:

We appreciate it when photographers dress in sync with the vibe and rock the theme, but they aren't required to. Photographers should wear comfortable shoes and arrive with their camera ready to shoot.  Please try to arrive by 10:30am. After checking in, browse Tamron Americas selection of lenses and Robis Camera's selection of lighting available for use on location. We'll be giving a prize away at the end to the photographer who gets most creative and engaging with Tamron & Robi Camera's gear.  Explore the space for inspiring portrait locations, take a few test shots, and chat with fellow creatives. Introductions start at 11am. We begin each slam by pairing everyone up. Please be prepared to work with many different models in quick micro sessions.  Videography, off camera flash, and film photography are welcome but please check in with us before flying a drone outside. You may bring your own lighting equipment, but please plan to tread lightly inside the 2,000 ft. furnished loft. Photography assistants are required to purchase a general ticket.
