Theme: Mid 1960's "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" Swimsuit Pool Party

Hollywood's mid sixties were a time where traditions were broken and self-expression was encouraged. Influenced by the youth of the day, the decade moved away from the prim and proper ’50s and into rebellious new times. Key fashion styles of the decade included mod, beatnik and hippie looks, all of which captured the artful, fun and free spirit of the time. The bikini became widely accepted in the ’60s, influenced by movie stars, European fashion, and the invention of nylon and Lycra. Men wore short swim briefs, belted shorts, and surfer jams. Explore mid-60's Hollywood fashion HERE and HERE or watch movies such as Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, The Graduate, Belle Du Jour, & Barbarella. Portrait slams are body positive events that celebrate style and creativity. Let us know if you have questions about our theme and, as always, don't be afraid to get weird.

Models:

Please arrive dressed in theme and ready to shoot. A mid-1960's Hollywood inspired wardrobe will be provided on location by Buzzard Vintage for models to incorporate into their look, beginning at 5pm. If you plan to shoot in the pool, please bring your own swimsuit & towel. The entire house will be available for photography, including the pool area outiside. Swimsuits are not required. A prize will be awarded to the model who rocks Buzzard Vintage's wardrobe with the most creativity and style. Kat, an MUA at Boho Bellas, will be onhand offering makeup micro sessions (a quick touchup or creative addition), first come first serve. Thanks Kat! Bring base neutrals you're confident in, and comfortable shoes to take full advantage of the large space. We begin each slam by pairing everyone up. Please be prepared to work with many different photographers in quick 10 minute sessions.

Photographers:

We appreciate it when photographers dress in sync with the vibe and rock the theme, but they aren't required to. Photographers should wear comfortable shoes and arrive with their camera ready to shoot.  Please try to arrive by 5:30pm. After checking in, browse Focal Point Photography's selection of lighting equipment and Tamron's selection of lenses available for use on location. Focal Point & Tamron USA will be giving prizes away at the end to the photographer who gets most creative with equipment.  Explore the space for inspiring portrait locations, take a few test shots, and chat with fellow creatives. Introductions start at 6pm. We begin each slam by pairing everyone up. Please be prepared to work with many different models in quick 10 minute sessions. Videography, off camera flash, and film photography are welcome but please check in with us before flying a drone. Photography assistants are required to purchase a general ticket.
