Theme: Streetwear Fashion 

Streetwear is a style of casual clothing which became global in the 1990s. It grew from New York hip hop fashion and Californian surf culture to encompass elements of sportswear, punk, skateboarding, Japanese street fashion,  & haute couture. Feel free to rock vintage, contemporary, or futuristic looks. For those looking capture a 90's vibe: American sportswear brands had a huge impact on 90'streetwear fashion, most notably Polo Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Adidas, Kangol, Starter, Champion, and Supreme - as did cultural brands like FUBU, Phat Farm, Baby Phat, Pelle Pelle, Ecko, and Wu Wear. Please remember: we celebrate diversity, body positivity, self-expression and creativity. Our theme is not a costume. Incorporate your own unique style into your look, let us know if you have any questions, and don't be afraid to get wierd. 

Models:

Please arrive dressed in theme and ready to shoot. Cashed Out Vintage will have a curated collection of streetwear inspired fashion available for models to incporate into their look (with a prize at the end to the model who gets most creative with their items). Consider October weather and expect to layer up or down, bring base neutrals you're confident in, and comfortable shoes to take full advantage of the space. Models will have their own dedicated changing space inside the Mill. Check-in, meet fellow creatives, browse the space for inspiring locations to shoot, & sample lighting by Hunt's Photo & Video. Dynasty Models INC will be on hand to help assist with posing & inspire creativity. Please be prepared to work with many different photographers and models in short micro sessions. Please try and arrive by 3:30pm. Introductions start at 5pm.

Photographers:

We appreciate it when photographers dress in sync with the vibe and rock the theme, but they aren't required to. Photographers should wear comfortable shoes and arrive with their camera ready to shoot.  Please try to arrive by 3:30pm. After checking in, browseNanlite's selection of lighting equipment and Tamron's selection of lenses available for use (optional) on location. Hunt's Camera will be on-hand to assist & give out prizes to the photographer(s) who get most creative with equipment.  Explore the space for inspiring portrait locations, take a few test shots, and chat with fellow creatives. Introductions begin at 4pm. We begin each slam by pairing everyone up. Please be prepared to work with many different models in quick 10 minute sessions. Videography, off camera flash, and film photography are welcome but please check in with us before flying a drone. Photography assistants are required to purchase a general ticket.

To reserve your spot, please register and purchase your ticket after reading & agreeing to our rules on our website at portraitslam.com/rules.  Your ticket will become non-refundable after October 11th. Only registered participants are allowed to attend our events. Please check in with us in advance to request a special exception. We work hard to curate a balanced & diverse group of creatives. Please let us know in advance if you need to cancel. Invitations can be shared with other models, photographers & videographers.  We always appreciate word of mouth.
