Theme: Candy Couture

Candy has a long influenced popular culture and the fashion world. Designers like Rei Kawakubo of Comme de Garçons and Jeremy Scott of Moschino go over the top with color, patterns, and sleek & sugary textures while inspired by candy. Lean into the sticky sweetness the theme evokes to find inspiration in nostalgic and iconic brands, logos and packaging. Vibe with confectionery props like giant lollipops, sprinkled lips, candy necklaces, ring pops, bubble gum, and cotton candy by Sweet Day Cotton Candy. Models: 

Please arrive dressed in theme and ready to shoot. A candy couture inspired wardrobe will be provided on location by Portland's Baggage for models to incorporate into their look, beginning at 2pm - please don't miss this! A prize will be awarded to the model who rocks Baggage's wardrobe with the most creativity and style. will be awarded to the model who rocks our candy couture theme with the most creativity and style. Bring base neutrals you're confident in, and comfortable shoes to take full advantage of the large space. Jon Jacob will be offering makeup mini sessions and Jaqui Vera will be offering hairstyle mini sessions during arrivals - first come first serve. Thanks Jon & Jaqui! We begin each slam by pairing everyone up. Please be prepared to work with many different photographers in quick 10 minute sessions.

Photographers:

We appreciate it when photographers dress in sync with the vibe and rock the theme, but they aren't required to. Photographers should wear comfortable shoes and arrive with their camera ready to shoot.  Please try to arrive by 2:45pm. After checking in, browse Pro Photo Supply's selection of lighting equipment and Tamron's selection of lenses available for use on location. Pro Photo Supply will be giving a prize away at the end to the photographer who gets most creative with equipment.  Explore the space for inspiring portrait locations, take a few test shots, and chat with fellow creatives. Introductions start at 3pm. We begin each slam by pairing everyone up. Please be prepared to work with many different models in quick 10 minute sessions. Videography, off camera flash, and film photography are welcome but please check in with us before flying a drone. Photography assistants are required to purchase a general ticket.

COVID-19:

In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, group size will be limited to safe levels for a large indoor space. All participants be will required to wear a mask indoors. Models can remove their masks only when shooting, once the slam officially begins. Portrait Slam props, equipment and supplies will be sanitized before, during, and after the slam. If you aren't feeling well, please stay home. Let's collaborate to have a safe and creative slam.

This invitation is required to attend. We work hard to curate a balanced & diverse group of creatives. To reserve your spot, please register and purchase your ticket after reading & agreeing to our rules on our website at portraitslam.com/rules.  Your ticket will become non-refundable after Nov. 3rd.
