Theme: Outer Space

Mankind is making progress towards colonizing Mars, Voyager One is drifting beyond our solar system, and reusable rockets are returning to Earth. New Space as arrived!  Celebrate the spirit & fashion of space exploration with an Outer Space inspired slam. Consider metallic tones with bold pops of color and slick unnatural textures.  For wardrobe inspiration, look towards the future or the past when searching "Outer Space Fashion" on Pintrest or Google, or search "#AOMSlam" on Instagram. Portrait slams celebrate diversity, body positivity, self-expression, style, individuality and creativity. Let us know if you have questions about our theme and, as always, don't be afraid to get weird.

Models:

Please arrive dressed in theme and ready to shoot. We're currently looking for volunteer MUA's to help style during arrivals in exchange for a free model ticket - please let us know if you have any local suggestions. Although the venue is largely indoors, consider November weather and expect to layer up or down, bring base neutrals you're confident in, and comfortable shoes to take full advantage of the space. Models will have their own dedicated changing space inside. Tables & a clothing rack will be available for personal belongings. Check-in, meet fellow creatives, browse the space for inspiring locations to shoot, & sample lighting by Nanlite USA & gear by George's Camera. Please be prepared to work with many different photographers and models in short micro sessions. Please try and arrive by 1:30pm. Introductions start at 5pm.

Photographers:

We appreciate it when photographers dress in sync with the vibe and rock the theme, but they aren't required to. Photographers should wear comfortable shoes and arrive with their camera ready to shoot.  Please try to arrive by 1:30pm. After checking in, browse Nanlite's selection of lighting equipment, Tamron's selection of lenses, & additional gear by George's Camera, all available for use (optional) on location. George's Camera will be onhand to assist with gear & lighting.  Explore the space for inspiring portrait locations, take a few test shots, and chat with fellow creatives. Introductions start at 2pm. We begin each slam by pairing everyone up. Please be prepared to work with many different models in quick 10 minute sessions. Videography, off camera flash, and film photography are welcome but please check in with us before flying a drone. Photography assistants are required to purchase a general ticket.

To reserve your spot, please register and purchase your ticket after reading & agreeing to our rules on our website at portraitslam.com/rules.  Your ticket will become non-refundable after November 9th. Only registered participants are allowed to attend our events. Please check in with us in advance to request a special exception. We work hard to curate a balanced & diverse group of creatives. Please let us know in advance if you need to cancel. Invitations can be shared with other models, photographers & videographers.  We always appreciate word of mouth.
