Theme: Golden Age of Travel - Mid Century Vintage

America was once home to a railroad system that was arguably the finest in the world. Not only was it modern and efficient, it was glamorous and romantic. Step back in time to the Golden Age of Rail Travel and relive the opulence and grandeur of America's historic trains. When rail travel was luxurious and passengers rocked their finest attire in lavishly decorated dining cars. Explore 1940's & 1950's fashion for inspiration, with a focus on winter travel. Check out vintage travel posters, Pinterest galleries, or search #AviationSlam on Instagram to see a Golden Age of Travel moodboard from 2022's slam at the Oakland Aviation Museum. Please remember: our fashion theme is a prompt, not a costume. We welcome unique interpretations and celebrate diversity, body positivity, self-expression, style, and creativity. Feel free to get weird. Let us know if you have any questions!

Models:

Please arrive dressed in theme and ready to shoot. We'll have a space designated for models inside the Rail Heritage Museum for changing and model's belongings. MUA's Jaqui Vera from Vera Good Hair & Joana Valle from Valle Prints & Glam will be offering micro sessions & touchups during arrivals, first-come-first-serve (optional). Emily, owner of Portland's Hazy Dazy Floral Co., will be on-hand with hand crafted floral artistry, available to incorporate into your look. Elite Production Studio will be offering a mini model workshop and Nanlite USA will be demoing lighting at 9:30am. Check in, explore the space for inspiring portrait locations, practice with gear, meet other creatives, and collaborate with Emily, Jaqui, Joana, & EPS before introductions begin at 10:00am. We begin each slam by pairing everyone up. Please be prepared to work with many different photographers in quick 10 minute sessions.

Photographers:

We appreciate it when photographers dress in sync with the vibe and rock the theme, but they aren't required to. Photographers should wear comfortable shoes and arrive with their camera ready to shoot.  Please try to arrive by 9:30am, in time for lighting & gear demos. After checking in, browse Tamron's lenses, Nanlite's lighting, & Fuji cameras, all available for use on location. Pro Photo Supply will be giving a prize away at the end to the photographer who gets most creative and engaging with Tamron & Nanlite's gear.  Explore the space for inspiring portrait locations, take a few test shots, and chat with fellow creatives. Introductions start at 10am. We begin each slam by pairing everyone up. Please be prepared to work with many different models in quick 10 minute sessions. Videography, personal lighting, and film photography are welcome but please check in with us before flying a drone. Photography assistants are required to purchase a general ticket.
