Theme: Oscars Gala

Fashion at the Oscars receives as much attention as the awards themselves. Iconic moments in Oscars fashion includes Billy Porter's Christian Siriano tuxedo gown, Audrey Hepburn's simplistic Givenchy, Janelle Monae's shimmering Ralph Lauren, & Zendaya's lemon yellow Valentino. Men’s fashion has seen its own evolution on the Oscars Red Carpet. Traditional men’s suiting has always reigned as the popular fashion trend at the Oscars, but in recent years, styles have shifted where men have increasingly looked to bold colors, patterns, textures and modernized takes on the traditional suit. Models:

Please arrive at Belle Fiore dressed in theme and ready to shoot. Fashion designer Stephanie Harford's Sharfo Designs will be featuring additional Oscars Gala inspired fashion on location for models to incorporate into their look, beginning at 9am. Sizes are limited but Stephanie is encouraging models to check in with her regarding options before the slam, via Instagram or Facebook. We'll be giving away a prize at the end to the model who gets most creative and playful with Sharfo's wardrobe. Models will have their own dedicated changing room. Jadey Westenberder (@JadeyPugz) be on hand offering makeup touchups & creative micro sessions during arrivals. Please try to arrive by 9:30am. Check in, explore the space for inspiring portrait locations, practice with lighting from Focal Point Photography, test out lenses by Tamron, and meet other creatives, and browse wardrobe options before introductions begin at 10:00am. We begin each slam by paring everyone up. Please be prepared to work with many different photographers (and other models) in short micro sessions. After the slam, we'll be inviting all participants to continue networking at Belle Fiore over snacks and wine (optional, Belle Fiore opens at 12pm).

Photographers:

We appreciate it when photographers dress in sync with the vibe and rock the theme, but they aren't required to. Photographers should wear comfortable shoes and arrive with their camera ready to shoot.  Please try to arrive by 9:30am. After checking in, browse Tamron's selection of lenses and Focal Point Photography's selection of lighting available for use on location. We'll be will be giving a prize away at the end to the photographer who gets most creative and engaging with the gear available on location.  Explore the space for inspiring portrait locations, take a few test shots, and chat with fellow creatives. Introductions start at 10am. We begin each slam by pairing everyone up. Please be prepared to work with many different models in quick micro sessions. Videography, off camera flash, and film photography are welcome. Photographers are welcome to bring their own lighting. Photography assistants are required to purchase a general ticket. After the slam, we'll be inviting all participants to continue networking at Belle Fiore over snacks and wine (optional, Belle Fiore opens at 12pm).

This invitation is required to attend. We work hard to curate a balanced & diverse group of creatives. To reserve your spot, please register and purchase your ticket after reading & agreeing to our rules on our website at portraitslam.com/rules.  Your ticket will become non-refundable after Feb. 22nd. Only registered participants are allowed to attend our events. Please check in with us in advance to request a special exception. We appreciate word-of-mouth and if you'd like to suggest other models or portrait photographers for us to consider inviting, please let us know.
