Theme: Geek Chic

Geek chic style is all about embracing your inner geek, but with a fashionable twist. The style celebrates clothing and accessories that are classically nerdy, like thick rimmed glasses, knee high socks, bow ties, statement T-shirts, cardigans, Birkinstocks, ankle-length trousers, ect.  For further inspiration, search "Geek Chic" on Pintrest and share stories on Instagram (mention us and we'll share). Portrait slams celebrate diversity, self-expression, style, individuality and creativity. Let us know if you have questions about our theme and, as always, don't be afraid to get weird.

Models: 

Please arrive dressed in theme and ready to shoot. A geek chic inspired wardrobe will be provided on location by Medford's Refashion Consignment Shop for models to incorporate into their look, beginning at 4pm - please don't miss this! Wear base neutrals you're confident in and comfortable shoes to take full advantage of the large space. A prize will be awarded to the model who rocks Refashion's wardrobe with the most creativity and style. Tiffany, the owner, has invited models to visit her store between now and March 5th to reserve or purchase items for the slam. Reservations will be limited to one outfit and delivered to the slam before arrivals begin. Refashion is located at 535 Stevens St Suite A, Medford, OR 97504. Thanks Tiffany!

Photographers:

We appreciate it when photographers dress in sync with the vibe and rock the theme, but they aren't required to. Photographers should wear comfortable shoes and arrive with their camera ready to shoot.  Please try to arrive by 3:30pm.  Explore the space for inspiring portrait locations, take a few test shots, and meet your fellow creatives. We'll be giving away a prize at the end to the photographer who gets most creative and collaborative. Introductions start at 4pm. We begin each slam by pairing everyone up. Please be prepared to work with many different models in sessions limited to 10 minutes. Videography, off camera flash, and film photography are welcome but please check in with us before flying a drone. Photography assistants are required to purchase a general ticket.

COVID-19:

In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, group size will be limited to safe levels for a large indoor space. Until Oregon officially lifts it's indoor mask mandate, all participants be will required to wear a mask indoors. Models can remove their masks only when shooting, once the slam officially begins. Portrait Slam props, equipment and supplies will be sanitized before, during, and after the slam. If you aren't feeling well, please stay home. Let's collaborate to have a safe and creative event.

This invitation is required to attend. We work hard to curate a balanced & diverse group of creatives. To reserve your spot, please register and purchase your ticket after reading & agreeing to our rules on our website at portraitslam.com/rules.  Your ticket will become non-refundable after March 3rd. We appreciate word-of-mouth and if you'd like to suggest other models or portrait photographers for us to consider inviting, please let us know!
