Theme: Denim-on-Denim

In the late 17th century, weavers in Nimes, France, accidentally made the first modern denim, a course, sturdy, cotton fabric. Denim has been used in the United States since the mid-19th century. Denim initially gained popularity in 1873 when Jacob W. Davis, a tailor from Nevada, manufactured the first pair of rivet-reinforced denim pants. Davis teamed with Levi Strauss and began manufacturing "Levi's" in San Francisco.  In the centuries to follow, denim would be inexhaustibly reimagined and reinvented, in step with the latest fashion trends. Today, denim fashion includes handbags, jackets, colllard shirts, skirts, hats, shoes, shorts, ect.  For inspiration, visit these Pinterest boards HERE and HERE or serach #DenimOnDenim on Instagram. We celebrate diversity, body positivity, self-expression, style, and creativity. Let us know if you have any questions! 

Models:

Please arrive dressed in theme and ready to shoot. D. Haberdashery will be featuring additional denim inspired fashion on location for models to incorporate into their look, beginning at 5pm. Please don't miss this! We'll be giving away a prize at the end to the model who gets most creative and engaging with D. Haberdashery's wardrobe. Models will have access to a private space for changing. Please try to arrive by 5:30pm. Check in, explore the space for inspiring portrait locations, practice with lighting from Robi's Camera, meet other creatives, and browse wardrobe before introductions begin at 6:00pm. We begin each slam by paring everyone up. Please be prepared to work with many different photographers (and other models) in short micro sessions.

Photographers:

We appreciate it when photographers dress in sync with the vibe and rock the theme, but they aren't required to. Photographers should wear comfortable shoes and arrive with their camera ready to shoot.  Please try to arrive by 5:30pm. After checking in, browse Tamron's selection of lenses and Robi's Camera's selection of lighting available for use on location. We'll be will be giving a prize away at the end to the photographer who gets most creative and engaging with Tamron & Robi's Camera's gear.  Explore the space for inspiring portrait locations, take a few test shots, and chat with fellow creatives. Introductions start at 5pm. We begin each slam by pairing everyone up. Please be prepared to work with many different models in quick micro sessions. Questions about which lenses will be location? Check in with @TamronPNW_BenHutchinson on Instagram. Videography, off camera flash, and film photography are welcome but please check in with us before flying a drone. Photography assistants are required to purchase a general ticket.

COVID-19:

In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, group size will be limited to safe levels. Masks will be optional. Portrait Slam props, equipment and supplies will be sanitized before, during, and after the slam. If you aren't feeling well, please stay home. Let's collaborate to have a safe and creative slam.

This invitation is required to attend. We work hard to curate a balanced & diverse group of creatives. To reserve your spot, please register and purchase your ticket after reading & agreeing to our rules on our website at portraitslam.com/rules.  Your ticket will become non-refundable after June 23rd. Only registered participants are allowed to attend our events. Please check in with us in advance to request a special exception. We appreciate word-of-mouth and if you'd like to suggest other models or portrait photographers for us to consider inviting, please let us know.
