Theme: Cyberpunk

Cyberpunk is an aesthetic movement defined by a high-tech, low-life approach to the world. The alt-style pays homage to gritty, tech-driven, oppressive societies dominated by computer technology and big corporations.  Cyberpunk became a full-fledged fashion genre in the late 1980s and continues to increase in popularity across the world. References from popular culture include Æon Flux, the Matrix, Blade Runner, Cyberpunk 2077, Ghost in the Shell, Hackers, & Neuromancer. For further inspiration, search #cyberpunk on Instagram or click HERE. Portrait slams celebrate diversity, self-expression, style, individuality and creativity. Let us know if you have questions about our theme and, as always, don't be afraid to get weird.

Models: 

Please arrive dressed in theme and ready to shoot. A Cyberpunk themed wardrobe will be provided on location by Seattle's Bon Voyage Vintage for models to incorporate into their look, beginning at 2pm - please don't miss this! A prize will be awarded to the model who rocks Bon Voyage Vintage's wardrobe with the most creativity and style. Consider October weather and expect to layer up or down, bring base neutrals you're confident in, and comfortable shoes to take full advantage of the space. We begin each slam by pairing everyone up. Please be prepared to work with many different photographers in quick 10 minute sessions.

Photographers:

We appreciate it when photographers dress in sync with the vibe and rock the theme, but they aren't required to. Photographers should wear comfortable shoes and arrive with their camera ready to shoot.  Please try to arrive by 2:45pm. After checking in, browse Glazer's Camera's selection of lighting equipment and Tamron's selection of lenses available for use on location. Glazer's Camera will be giving a prize away at the end to the photographer who gets most creative with equipment.  Explore the space for inspiring portrait locations, take a few test shots, and chat with fellow creatives. Introductions start at 3pm. We begin each slam by pairing everyone up. Please be prepared to work with many different models in quick 10 minute sessions. Videography, off camera flash, and film photography are welcome but please check in with us before flying a drone. Photography assistants are required to purchase a general ticket.

COVID-19:

In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this is an indoor/outdoor event and group size will be limited.  Masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, and bottled water will be provided for participants based on CDC recommendations. All participants be will required to wear a mask indoors. Models can remove their masks indoors only when shooting, once the slam officially begins. Portrait Slam props, equipment and supplies will be sanitized before, during, and after the slam. If you aren't feeling well, please stay home. Let's collaborate to have a safe and creative slam.

This invitation is required to attend. We work hard to curate a balanced & diverse group of creatives. To reserve your spot, please register and purchase your ticket after reading & agreeing to our rules on our website at portraitslam.com/rules.  Your ticket will become non-refundable after Oct. 6th. We appreciate word-of-mouth and if you'd like to suggest other models or portrait photographers for us to consider inviting, please let us know!
