Theme: Post-Apocalyptic
The year is 2124. New England has been reduced to a ghostland of crumbling cities & rusting automobiles. Communication & transportation collapsed during year one. Small bands of surviors now roam around New England in wild packs via makeshift bicycles, scooters, skateboards, and rollerblades. To honor the 100 year anniversay of the end of civilization as we once knew it, a celebration of alt fashion & photography has been planned at an industrial wrecking yard in the neutral territory of Windsor Locks. Rock what fashion you can salvage and, as always, don't be afraid to get wierd. Not connecting with Post-Apocalyptic? Consider pulling ideas from other alt fashion trends like Cyberpunk, Futuristic Athleisure, Gothcore, Grunge, ect. Portrait slams are body positive events that celebrate style, self-expression, and creativity. For inspiration from past slams, search #EugeneSlam, #AntelopeSlam, #WhiteCitySlam, or #PDXSlam on Instagram to see Post-Apocalypic examples from past slams - or search "Apocalyptic Fashion" on Pinterest.
Models:
Please arrive dressed in theme and ready to shoot. Cashed Out Vintage will have a curated collection of wardrobe & accessories for models to incorporate into their look, on location. Angelina Hamm will be offering makeup touchups & micro sessions during arrivals and model coaching during the sslam. Arrivals begin at 6pm. Please try to arrive by 6:30pm, in time for a lighting demo by Nanlite USA. We'll have a space designated for models inside the training facility for changing and model's belongings. Check in, explore the space for inspiring portrait locations, browse wardrobe and meet other creatives until introductions begin at 7pm. Models are welcome to bring additional personal wardrobe items for alternate looks during the slam, but please bring a hanger and tag items with your name. There is a lot of ground to cover at the Connecticut Fire Academy, including lots of stairs, ladders, and industrial equipment - plan footwear thoughtfully. Please be prepared to work with many different photographers in quick 10 minute sessions.

Photographers:
We appreciate it when photographers & videographers dress in sync with the vibe and rock the theme, but they aren't required to. Photographers should wear comfortable shoes and arrive with their camera ready to shoot. Please try to arrive by 6:30pm, in time for lighting & gear demos. After checking in, browse Tamron's lenses and Nanlite's lighting, available to borrow on location. Milford Photo will be available to assist with gear. Prizes will be given away at the end to the participants who get most creative and engaging with Nanlite and Tamron gear (just for fun, slams are not competitions). Explore the space for inspiring portrait locations, take a few test shots and chat with fellow creatives. Introductions start at 7pm. We begin each slam by pairing everyone up. Please be prepared to work with many different models in quick 10 minute sessions. This slam will extend through twilight hours - photographers can bring their own lighting, in addition to Nanlite lighting available on-hand. Film photography is welcome but please check in with us before flying a drone. Photography assistants are required to purchase a general ticket.
