Theme: Vintage 1950's & Early 60's: The Golden Age of Flight 

We're returning to the Golden Age of Flight, the era of American Airlines, Pan Am and TWA.  When travel was luxurious, passengers rocked their most fashion forward outfits and aviators protected US skies from Cold War invasion in their Convair Delta Daggers. Models: explore 1950's/early 60's fashion for inspiration, with a focus on spring travel. Check out vintage travel posters, watch Catch Me If You Can or Mad Men, or explore "Golden Age of Flight" on Pinterest.  Accessories may include vintage luggage & bags, parasols, scarves, aviator shades, bomber jackets, hats, ect. We'll be welcoming both passenger and aviator vibes. If you'd like to exchange ideas and coordinate with others, join the Portrait Slam Forum on Facebook. Please remember, our fashion theme is not a costume. We celebrate diversity, body positivity, self-expression, style, and creativity. Let us know if you have any questions! 

Models:

Please arrive dressed in theme and ready to shoot. Radbird will have a Golden Age of Flight inspired wardrobe on location for models to incorporate into their look. Please don't miss this! Radbird will be giving away a prize at the end to the model who rocks their wardrobe with the most creativity. We'll have a space designated for wardrobe. Please try to arrive by 5:30pm. Check in, explore the space for inspiring portrait locations, practice with lighting from Looking Glass Photo, meet other creatives, and browse wardrobe before introductions begin at 6:00pm. We begin each slam by paring everyone up. Please be prepared to work with many different photographers in quick 10 minute sessions.

Photographers:

We appreciate it when photographers dress in sync with the vibe and rock the theme, but they aren't required to. Photographers should wear comfortable shoes and arrive with their camera ready to shoot.  Please try to arrive by 5:30pm. After checking in, browse Tamron's selection of lenses and Looking Glass Photo's selection of lighting available for use on location. We'll be will be giving a prize away at the end to the photographer who gets most creative and engaging with Tamron & Looking Glass Photo's gear.  Explore the space for inspiring portrait locations, take a few test shots, and chat with fellow creatives. Introductions start at 5pm. We begin each slam by pairing everyone up. Please be prepared to work with many different models in quick 10 minute sessions. Videography, off camera flash, and film photography are welcome but please check in with us before flying a drone. Photography assistants are required to purchase a general ticket.

COVID-19:

In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, group size will be limited to safe levels. Masks will be optional. Portrait Slam props, equipment and supplies will be sanitized before, during, and after the slam. If you aren't feeling well, please stay home. Let's collaborate to have a safe and creative slam.

This invitation is required to attend. We work hard to curate a balanced & diverse group of creatives. To reserve your spot, please register and purchase your ticket after reading & agreeing to our rules on our website at portraitslam.com/rules.  Your ticket will become non-refundable after May 4.
