Theme: Western Wear

Western wear is a fashion aesthetic inspired by the 19th century American West. The western aesthetic has made a resurgence in popular culture, thanks in part to movies & shows like The Harder They Fall, Yellowstone, Outer Range, Hell or High Water, ect. Recently, western wear fashion has been influenced by current trends, including denim-on-denim, Y2K nostalgia, cowboycore, & space cowboy (a fusion of classic western wear and futuristic pop - think Lil Nas in pink snakeskin while riding horseback and shooting a ray-gun, Kasey Musgraves stomping on stage in sequined boots, Kim Kardashian rocking metallic chaps). Explore various western wear generes for further inspiration and mention us in stories to share inspiration. We always appreciate individuality and unique interpretations of our theme. Please remember, our fashion theme is not a costume. We celebrate diversity, body positivity, self-expression, style, and creativity. Let us know if you have any questions. 

Models:

Please arrive at the Arizona Railway Museum dressed in theme and ready to shoot. Cloud Creations will be featuring additional Western Wear inspired fashion on location for models to incorporate into their look, beginning at 4pm. To collaborate with owner Pam "Gazelle" Robertson beforehand, reach out to her on Facebook HERE. We'll be giving away a prize at the end to a model who gets creative with Cloud Creation's wardrobe. Models will have their own dedicated changing room. Please try to arrive by 4:30pm. Check in, explore the space for inspiring portrait locations, experiment with lighting from Tempe Camera  and browse wardrobe options before introductions begin at 5:00pm. We begin each slam by paring everyone up. Please be prepared to work with many different photographers and models in short micro sessions. *We're currently seeking a volunteer MUA(s) to be on-hand during arrivals to offer makeup touch-ups & creative micro sessions, in exchange for a free model or photographer ticket. Photographers:

We appreciate it when photographers dress in sync with the vibe and rock the theme, but they aren't required to. Photographers should wear comfortable shoes and arrive with their camera ready to shoot.  Please try to arrive by 4:30pm. After checking in, browse Tamron Americas selection of lenses and Tempe Camera's selection of lighting available for use on location. We'll be giving a prize away at the end to the photographer who gets most creative and engaging with Tamron & Tempe Camera gear.  Explore the space for inspiring portrait locations, take a few test shots, and chat with fellow creatives. Introductions start at 5pm. We begin each slam by pairing everyone up. Please be prepared to work with many different models in quick micro sessions.  Videography, off camera flash, and film photography are welcome but please check in with us before flying a drone. Photography assistants are required to purchase a general ticket.

This invitation is required to attend. We work hard to curate a balanced & diverse group of creatives. To reserve your spot, please register and purchase your ticket after reading & agreeing to our rules on our website at portraitslam.com/rules.  Your ticket will become non-refundable after March 22nd. Only registered participants are allowed to attend our events. Please check in with us in advance to request a special exception.
