Theme: New Space Age

As mankind plans to colonize Mars, Voyager One leaves our solar system, and reusable rockets return to Earth, a New Space Age is upon us!  Come celebrate with futuristic space travel vibes. Look towards metallic tones with bold pops of color and slick unnatural textures. For wardrobe inspiration, search "Outer Space Fashion" or "New Space Age Fashion" on Pintrest or #SpaceFashion on Instagram, watch recent pop culture like Mars, Intersteller, Moon, & Space Sweepers or share stories on Instagram. Portrait slams celebrate diversity, body positivity, self-expression, style, individuality and creativity. Let us know if you have questions about our theme and, as always, don't be afraid to get weird.

Models:

Please arrive dressed in theme and ready to shoot. The Clothes Horse will be giving away a prize at the end to the model who rocks the theme with the most creativity. We'll have a space designated for wardrobe. If you'd like to bring an additonal item(s) to change into, please bring your own hangers for our clothing rack. Please try to arrive by 4:30pm. Check in, explore the space for inspiring portrait locations, practice with lighting from Focal Point Photography, meet other creatives, and browse wardrobe before introductions begin at 5pm. We begin each slam by paring everyone up. Please be prepared to work with many different photographers in quick 10 minute sessions.

Photographers:

We appreciate it when photographers dress in sync with the vibe and rock the theme, but they aren't required to. Photographers should wear comfortable shoes and arrive with their camera ready to shoot.  Please try to arrive by 4:30pm. After checking in, browse Tamron's selection of lenses and Focal Point Photography's selection of lighting available for use on location. We'll be will be giving a prize away at the end to the photographer who gets most creative and engaging with Tamron & Focal Point gear.  Explore the space for inspiring portrait locations, take a few test shots, and chat with fellow creatives. Introductions start at 5pm. We begin each slam by pairing everyone up. Please be prepared to work with many different models in quick 10 minute sessions. Videography, off camera flash, and film photography are welcome but please check in with us before flying a drone. Photography assistants are required to purchase a general ticket.

COVID-19:

In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, group size will be limited to safe levels. Masks will be optional. Portrait Slam props, equipment and supplies will be sanitized before, during, and after the slam. If you aren't feeling well, please stay home. Let's collaborate to have a safe and creative slam.

This invitation is required to attend. We work hard to curate a balanced & diverse group of creatives. To reserve your spot, please register and purchase your ticket after reading & agreeing to our rules on our website at portraitslam.com/rules.  Your ticket will become non-refundable after April 6th. We appreciate word-of-mouth and if you'd like to suggest other models or portrait photographers for us to consider inviting, please let us know!
