Theme:

The term androgynous originates from the Latin word ‘androgyne’ which describes a mix of male and female physical characteristics. Androgynous fashion means clothing and accessories designed to avoid creating a distinction between masculine and feminine physical characteristics and can be used to express non-binary gender identity. Androgynous fashion is about embracing one's own identity. It’s not lesbian, tomboy, gay, butch, girly, or manly. It’s not masculine or feminine, it’s both.

The classic androgynous look embraces clean lines, classic pieces, and simple shapes. Androgynous looks are gender neutral. This slam should inspire you to play with blurring the lines between men's fashion and women's fashion. The theme is not a costume - learn more about adrogenyous fashion by searching #AndrogynousFashion on Instagram, or browse Pintrest for inspiration. Please feel free to express your own unique style and, as always, don't be afraid to get weird.

Models:

Please arrive dressed in theme and ready to shoot. An androgynous-themed wardrobe will be provided on location by Eugene's The Clothes Horse for models to incorporate into their look, beginning at 6pm - please don't miss this! If you'd like, visit The Clothes Horse from now until the slam to set aside or purchase items - just let them know you're there for the slam.  Prizes will be awarded to the model who rocks The Clothes Horse's wardrobe with the most creativity and style. Consider June weather and expect to layer up or down, bring base neutrals you're confident in, and comfortable shoes to take full advantage of the space.

Photographers:

We appreciate it when photographers dress in sync with the vibe and rock the theme (not required). Photographers should wear comfortable shoes and arrive with their camera ready to shoot.  Please try to arrive by 6:30pm. After checking in, explore the space for inspiring portrait locations, take a few test shots, and chat with fellow creatives. Introductions start at 7pm. Afterwards, we begin each slam by pairing everyone up. Please be prepared to work with many different models in quick 10 minute sessions. Videography, off camera flash, and film photography are welcome but please check in with us before flying a drone. Photography assistants are required to purchase a general ticket.

The Shutterbug and Tamron USA will be on-hand offering free camera lens rentals throughout the slam - this is an excellent opportunity to try new equipment!
