Theme: Cyberpunk

Cyberpunk is an aesthetic alt-style that pays homage to gritty, tech-driven, oppressive societies dominated by technology & corporate greed.  Cyberpunk became a full-fledged fashion genre in the late 1980s and continues to increase in popularity across the world. References from popular culture include Æon Flux, the Matrix, Blade Runner, Cyberpunk 2077, Ghost in theShell, Hackers, & Neuromancer. Please keep in mind that the USS Hornet is a highly decorated aircraft carrier and that May 20th is Armed Forces Day. Nautical nods to the Navy & armed forces are welcomed. Let us know if you have questions about our theme and, as always, don't be afraid to get weird.

Models: 

Please arrive dressed in theme and ready to shoot. A Cyberpunk themed wardrobe will be provided on location by Radbird for models to incorporate into their look, beginning at 5pm - please don't miss this! A prize will be awarded to the model who rocks Radbird's wardrobe with the most creativity and style.  MUA Tamara Russell will be available during arrivals for micro sessions & touchups. Consider late May weather and expect to layer up or down, bring base neutrals you're confident in, and comfortable shoes to take full advantage of the space. Models will have their own dedicated changing space inside the USS Hornet. Check-in, meet fellow creatives, browse the space for inspiring locations to shoot, & sample lighting by Looking Glass Photo. Please be prepared to work with many different photographers and models in short micro sessions. Please try and arrive by 5:30pm. Introductions start at 6pm.

Photographers:

We appreciate it when photographers dress in sync with the vibe and rock the theme, but they aren't required to. Photographers should wear comfortable shoes and arrive with their camera ready to shoot.  Please try to arrive by 5:30pm. After checking in, browse Looking Glass Photo's selection of lighting equipment and Tamron's selection of lenses available for use (optional) on location. They'll be giving a prize away at the end to the photographer who gets most creative with equipment.  Explore the space for inspiring portrait locations, take a few test shots, and chat with fellow creatives. Introductions start at 6pm. We begin each slam by pairing everyone up. Please be prepared to work with many different models in quick 10 minute sessions. Videography, off camera flash, and film photography are welcome but please check in with us before flying a drone. Photography assistants are required to purchase a general ticket.

Registration is required. To reserve your spot, please register and purchase your ticket after reading & agreeing to our rules on our website at portraitslam.com/rules.  Your ticket will become non-refundable after May 17th. Only registered participants are allowed to attend our events. Please check in with us in advance to request a special exception. We work hard to curate a balanced & diverse group of creatives.
