Theme: Halloween Haunt - Creatures of the Night

Halloween Haunt fashion blends gothic, fantastical, and mythological elements into a hauntingly beautiful aesthetic. Seek inspiration from "creatures of the night" like vampires, shapeshifters, dark fairies, mythical beasts or ethereal spirits. Consider: dark, luxurious fabrics such as velvet, leather, fur and silk in rich colors like deep reds, blacks, purples, and metallics. Layered garments with flowing capes, tattered skirts, and structured corsets. Accessories like ornate chokers, fangs, colored contacts, intricate jewelry, and mystical talismans. Bold makeup choices (smokey eyes, pale complexions, dark lipstick, ect.) Styled locks to wild, untamed curls. Industrial textures and atmospheric backdrops of Earthwise Architectural Salvage. Join us in transforming Earthwise Architectural Salvage into a dark fantasy world for stunning, cinematic portraits.

Models:

Please arrive dressed in your unique interpretation of the theme and be ready to shoot.  We'll have a private space designated for models and model's belongings. Please bring hangers for any extra items. Tacoma's D. Haberdashery will have a curated collection of additional wardrobe available for models to incorporate into their look, beginning at 4:30pm. Check in, explore the space for inspiring portrait locations, get familiar with Nanlite lighting, and meet other creatives before introductions begin at 5:30pm. We'll have private access to Earthwise Architectural Salvage (their Seattle location) during the shoot. Please consider early October weather and be prepared to work with many different photographers in quick 10 minute sessions. We begin each slam by pairing everyone up. Photographers:

We appreciate it when photographers & videographers dress in sync with the vibe and rock the theme, but they aren't required to. Photographers should wear comfortable shoes and arrive with their camera ready to shoot. Please try to arrive by 5pm, in time for a lighting demo. After checking in, browse Tamron's lenses and Nanlite lighting, available to borrow on location. Kenmore Camera will be available to assist with gear. Prizes will be given away at the end to the participants who get most creative and engaging with vendor gear (just for fun - shooting with gear on-site is optional, slams are not competitions).  Explore the space for inspiring portrait locations, take a few test shots and chat with fellow creatives. We'll have private access to the space during the shoot. Introductions start at 5:30pm. We begin each slam by pairing everyone up. Please be prepared to work with many different models in quick 10 minute sessions. Personal lighting and film photography are welcome but please tread lightly and check in with us before flying a drone. Photography assistants are required to purchase a general ticket.

This invitation is required to attend. To reserve your spot, please register and purchase your ticket after reading & agreeing to our rules on our website at portraitslam.com/rules.  Your ticket will become non-refundable on October 1st. Only registered participants are allowed to attend our events. Please check in with us in advance to request a special exception. We work hard to curate a balanced & diverse group of creatives. Please let us know in advance if you need to cancel. Slams are drug & alcohol-free events.  Invitations can be shared with other models, photographers & videographers - we always appreciate word of mouth.
