Theme: Fairytale Fashion

Join us in bringing the magic of fairytales & fantasy to life through motion at our first ever videography slam! For fairtytale fashion, consider flowing fabrics like chiffon, silk, & tulle & intricate details like beaded embroidery, shimmering sequins, and delicate lace. Color pallates might include soft pastels & rich jewel tones that evoke royalty and mystery. Accessories like jeweled crowns, floral headpieces, and enchanted capes add layers of storytelling and character depth. When captured in motion, fairytale fashion becomes cinema, embodying elegance, fantasy, and wonder. Find fashion inspiration in literature, theater & cinema (Snow White, Frog Queen, Little Red Riding Hood, ect.). For further inspiration from past slams, search #WonderSlam on Instagram or "fairytale fashion" on Pinterest. Please remember: we celebrate diversity, body positivity, self-expression and creativity. Incorporate your own unique style into your look, let us know if you have any questions, and don't be afraid to get weird.

On-Camera Talent:

Please arrive dressed in your unique interpretation of the theme and be ready to shoot.  We'll have a private space designated for on-camera talent inside Mind Garden for changing and belongings, including a pop-up changing tent for privacy. Please bring hangers for any extra items. We're still working on having an MUA(s) onsite for volunteer styling during arrivals - please let us know if you're interested in volunteering or know someone who is, in exchange for free tickets and promotion. Check in, visit wardrobe, explore the space for inspiring portrait locations, get familiar with Nanlite lighting, and meet other creatives before introductions begin at 3pm. Please consider early February weather and be prepared to work with many different photographers in quick 10 minute sessions.

Behind-The-Camera Creators

We appreciate it when behind-the-camera creators dress in sync with the vibe and rock the theme, but they aren't required to. Please wear comfortable shoes and arrive with a camera ready to shoot. Please try to arrive by 2:30pm, in time for lighting & gear demos. After checking in, browse Tamron's lenses and Nanlite lighting, available to borrow on location. Action Camera will be available to assist with gear and videography concerns. Prizes will be given away at the end to the participants who get most creative and engaging with Nanlite and Tamron gear (just for fun, slams are not competitions). Explore Mind Garden for inspiring portrait locations, take a few test shots and chat with fellow creatives. Introductions start at 3pm. We begin each slam by pairing everyone up. Please be prepared to work with many different models in quick 10 minute sessions. Personal lighting, shooting stills, & film photography are welcome but please tread lightly and check in with us before flying a drone. Behind-the-camera assistants are required to purchase a general ticket.

To reserve your spot, please register and purchase your ticket after reading & agreeing to our rules on our website at portraitslam.com/rules.  Your ticket will become non-refundable after November 20th. Only registered participants are allowed to attend our events. Please check in with us in advance to request a special exception. We work hard to curate a balanced & diverse group of creatives.
